We will visit one of the oldest olive presses of Corfu, that has been operating since the 19^th century which turned to a museum in 1970. We will learn about the three phases of oil extraction, through the old machines preserved in the museum, namely crushing, removing olive juice, and separating olive oil from olive-residue (murga). Additionally, we will see lots of containers, vessels, and tools for the storage of olive oil as well as photos depicting moments of the agricultural life of olive oil producers in the past.

There you will have a unique opportunity to explore how women have been weaving carpets, rugs, and blankets for centuries. The loom was a weaving system, before its time, which existed in almost every household in the last century, while every housewife used to skillfully transform the fibers into amazing handmade fabrics and blankets, that required for the cold winter in Corfiot countryside.

It constitutes a folklore treasure trove of Corfu, captivating visitors with the numerous original and rare objects.

We will learn about the agricultural life of past generations, the occupations of people, the way they used to maintain family-, culture- and religion-related traditions and we will let our imagination fly just for one day to a Corfiot farmhouse of the 18^th century.

We will have the chance to see an accurate representation of a traditional house of that era, including rooms’ furnishing, a collection of agricultural tools, household goods and ecclesiastical items. Moreover, there are original men and women costumes, weaving and cobbler tools, old measuring tools, paintings, and numerous everyday items.
