Olive oil is much more than a common product to Corfiot’s, is a part of their mentality, culture, and way of life. Until 1950, about 1,000 olive presses have been operating on the island of Corfu, producing olive oil through the traditional process of olive fruit crushing.

We have chosen to visit a historic, beautiful village, being set on a densely forested hill, which affords superb views.
Locals will accompany us during our walk in the alleyways of the village and talk with us about this village’s history, folk tales, and traditions, when it was inhabited and the reasons why it was built at this location.
In the quaint neighborhoods of the village, we will discover hidden gems that only locals do know about as well as old houses and mansions, dating back to 1700, wells that local still nowadays get water out of to water their gardens and plants, churches with magnificent bell towers, the highest around the island.

Taste Greek coffee at a traditional coffeehouse
Under the shade of the trees, in the square of a picturesque village, we can discover how the best aromatic Greek coffee is produced. Cafe plays a vital role in the daily lives of people in every field. There we will meet locals: listen to their folk tales, take photos, and feel like locals from Corfu.

Our destination is the shady garden of a house in the countryside, boasting a lovely olive grove, producing one of the most qualitative varieties of olive oil, which has won prizes in several international competitions.
First, we will take a relaxing walk around the farm and wander through the lovely olive grove to see the local olive variety called “lianolia”(means small olive). The specific type of olive tree needs a lot of moisture to grow and in Corfu, where the weather is rainy during the winter, the tallest olive trees in Greece can be seen.
The local oil producer will be happy to inform us about this unique variety of olive, grown on the island of Corfu, introduce us to. . .

We will then walk through the farm’s vegetable garden to see all the fresh and organic vegetables being grown. Tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, lettuce, eggplant, herbs, all pure, organic, and delicious. We can put in our basket the vegetables we need for the olive oil tasting that follows.
During the tour we will meet chickens and geese roaming around carelessly, enjoying the tranquility offered by the Corfu nature.
Taste the Local Products

Our tour will be a throwback to the past, when oil producers used to use big, rotating stone wheels driven by animals to grind oils as well as we will see old pressers, containers for the storage of olive oil and a wide variety of original tools and vessels of that era.
In this atmospheric space, we will have the opportunity to taste different varieties of local olives and olive oils. Tasting local olives and olive oil will be a unique experience. You will accompany the tasting with various fresh and organic products that we will collect from the farm garden, while you will learn how to distinguish the special characteristics of Corfu olive oil.
